Having been teaching for twelve years, Mrs. Brantley has become one of the most well-liked and influential teachers here at ERHS. Prior to becoming a teacher, Mrs. Brantley worked in the automotive industry. She worked at General Motors; they wanted her to move to Pontiac . Seeing that Mrs. Brantley didn’t want too, she decided to pursue becoming a teacher. “It may sound cliché, but I wanted to make a difference,” says Mrs. Brantley.
Mrs. Brantley teaches Advanced Biology, Biology, Botany, and Zoology. She’s always been creative and had an interest in science so she decided to take that path. Mrs. Brantley got her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and her graduate degree from Aquinas College .
There’s never a dull moment in any of her classes. Mrs. Brantley enjoys getting to know new kids every year and seeing them grow as individuals throughout their high school career. Even though teaching is getting more difficult every year for Mrs. Brantley, she still enjoys her job; most of the time.
As the National Honors Society advisor, Mrs. Brantley has a lot of extra responsibilities and duties. NHS consumes a lot of her time and sometimes she gets a little overwhelmed.
With teaching four different classes and being the National Honors Society advisor, Mrs. Brantley has to use every second of her time effectively. With every trimester she needs to learn to juggle all of her classes and priorities.
Mrs. Brantley has some pretty interesting hobbies. She enjoys riding the roads on her Harley motorcycle during the summer with her husband. She also likes to read, scrapbook, and travel the world.
Over all Mrs. Brantley is very happy with where she is in life. Being a teacher is a very fulfilling and rewarding job. “Seeing a student’s face light up when they finally understand something is the best part about teaching. Knowing that I’m making a difference, even if it’s only in a few people, is what makes this group worth while.”
