Think really hard about your greatest scholastic accomplishment through your high school career so far. Have you got it? Could it be something close to exhausting the math curriculum offered here at Eaton Rapids High School by the time you were a sophomore? The only person who can list this as their greatest high school career accomplishment would be Senior, Kevin Rocheleau.
At the end of Kevin’s sophomore year there weren’t any more math classes here for him to take. At the start of his junior here he began registering for math classes at Michigan Technological University.
Throughout Kevin’s high school career he has been an active participant in school and community activities. His love of music drives his commitment as a member of the High School Band where he plays the bassoon. He also participates in choir, as well as theater. Band has been a big part of Kevin’s middle and high school career. This year will be his 8th year being a part of the Eaton Rapids school band. Outside of school Kevin is involved in Boy Scouts and takes piano lessons. During his free time Kevin is occupied with reading, playing on the computer, music, and of course, homework.
You might think that with all of Kevin’s extracurricular activities, school may sometimes be difficult to balance, however he always finds a way to get everything done. Kevin’s parents have always had a positive influence on him. They have been very supportive and encouraged him to do his best. They consistently set high expectations for Kevin and he believes he wouldn’t be where he is now without their involvement, and encouragement. His parents have always been willing to be creative and do whatever it took to find the classes Kevin needed to continue to be challenged.
Out of all the teachers here at Eaton Rapids High School, Kevin is one of the many students who would pick Mr. Marske as their favorite teacher. "Mr. Marske is just… Mr. Marske. He’s an awesome teacher and I’ll miss him when I go off to college," says Kevin. For those of you who haven’t had Mr. Marske as a teacher, you’ll find out what Kevin means if you’re lucky enough to have one of his classes in the future.
During his time here at Eaton Rapids High School Kevin has made many memories and great friends. He’s always been thankful for his friends who help him remember when his homework is due. It’s probably no surprise Kevin’s favorite subject is math, which probably has a little to do with the fact that he is so good at it.
With a 4.2 GPA, Kevin plans on attending Michigan Technological University and desires to become a Physicist. His natural ability to understand math combined with his hard work will serve him well toward obtaining his desired degree. In ten years Kevin sees himself as a professor at a University. As a senior, Kevin looks back and acknowledges he has enjoyed his time here at Eaton Rapids High School and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
