Student of the Month: Courtney Boomer

Junior Courtney Boomer prepares for success in the medical field.
Written by: Allison Saint Aubin '14
Courtney Boomer understands the need for a great work ethic in order to reach her goals. She has always worked hard to accomplish the goals she has set for herself. Many people have high expectations for her in and out of school. Her friends always have confidence in her and have encouraged her to do her absolute best.
Mr. Bos, her swim coach, knows that Courtney is a hard worker and expects nothing less than her best, and she never disappoints. Courtney’s accomplishments involving her swimming career include qualifying for states, which she will soon be attending, and placing first in the 100 Fly. Courtney enjoyed her swim season this year, and has high expectations for next year.
Trying to balance her school work and sports, Courtney finds it difficult to find free time. Putting school as her top priority, homework always comes first. Although sometimes putting school before a social life can be a struggle, Courtney realizes that it is necessary to be successful. Having many teachers to help her along the way, she is able to accomplish many things. Old Mr. Smith has always been there for her since freshman year.
“She’s a lovely young lady who works hard and knows what’s important. She prioritizes very well. I like Courtney Boomer”, says Smith. She is a two year member of the Smith Lunch Crew; she eats lunch in his room everyday. Mr. Smith enjoys having her around. “She is a very caring, hardworking person that establishes goals that are achievable.”
With maintaining her more than perfect GPA, Courtney plans to continue setting herself up for success in the future. Wanting to go into the medical field, Courtney has high expectations for her to get the grades needed to get into a college of choice. “I am keeping my options open on where I want to go to school.” She would like to be either a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant.
Courtney’s favorite subjects are English and Science. Although she is excellent at Human Anatomy, Science and English have always intrigued her.
In the future, Courtney sees herself finishing school, developing her career, and creating a good foundation for the rest of her life. Much is expected of her by her teachers and peers for her high school career.
